Review on Poafamx 16gal Aquarium Water Chiller Heater 60L Fish Tank Cooler Fahrenheit for Fish Shrimp Breeding Aquaculture with Pump 110V (60L Chiller&Heater) by Gina Clark

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good unit, with quality control issues.

Tested, works as advertised - requires a little math but appears to be cooling at around 16 gallons x 1 deg C per hour. In my case, that's 4 gallons at 4 degrees Celsius in 1 hour. The cooling rate really seems to slow down as it nears the set point, which in my case was about 5 degrees below ambient. I use it as a laser cutter and have tested it with the laser off so I don't know how well it performs under load. Mine came with a power cable with the line (HOT) and neutral connections reversed, and a screw was missing from the case cover (no, I didn't open it). All of the radiator screws on the underside were loosened - they were only screwed in, not tightened. The screws holding the legs have been loosened. Corrosion appeared on the inlet and outlet fittings. I wonder what's going on in there. What I see through the vents looks normal. Overall, the build quality and materials are top-notch. Quiet enough, especially for shop use, but I wouldn't want to use it in the living room - it's basically like a medium tower with a full CPU load. The fan turns on only when cooling or heating. The instructions are confusing and don't quite match the product. From what I understand, "LS" is the heating setpoint, "HS" is the cooling setpoint, and "d" is hysteresis (other than the setpoint at which the unit turns on). An additional undocumented option is "CF" which allows you to set the unit of measure to Celsius or Fahrenheit. I couldn't figure out what "P7" was doing.
