I have no idea what "cleanliness" has to do with whether a product is good or not - what about reliability? And the thickness is ok but honestly not the most important factor. Thing is, they're more reliable than the ones we've found at retail, but of course we don't think Apple connectors are very good, and there's not much choice here at other retail stores. We have two of these and are very happy with them. I am in the process of buying a third one for one of my kids which is a poor quality she bought at retail. This is mainly for Ethernet as we have a family member who gets headaches and insomnia from Wi-Fi but of course this is a blessing for my college son as his laptop has very few ports and they are used for recording at school etc. are needed.
