The lanyard works well, the leather is firmly bonded to the lanyard. The width is good for my larger knives, it only takes about six strokes on each side to get a good polished finish. Then use the smooth side to knock off the burrs. Holes are drilled in the top and bottom of the board to allow a small string to be threaded through to allow the item to be hung when not in use. I am very happy with this lanyard and the two polishes that come with the kit.
