It doesn't have some of the advanced settings you might be looking for, but I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a simple and easy-to-use setup. Use an entry-level portable sous vide machine. Prepare to top off some of your dishes with a good pan roast. Instead, you can use a flambé burner (similar to the one you use for crème brûlée). This is not a quick way to cook food. This is not a pressure cooker. This will help you control cooking evenly and perfectly. This means you can leave your food without overcooking or drying it out. You can get the perfect texture and temperature, then finish roasting to your liking. I think every household should have it if they want to cook something special. You don't need to buy items for vacuum packing. You can use regular ziplock bags and seal them much faster, easier and cheaper.
