Usefulness of this tool

The tool alone isn't very useful unless you first loosen the screw lock (e.g. Loctite) that was used when the scale was originally installed . The force required to break the thread lock is probably in the 50-60 pound range (my guess as I don't know what thread lock Titleist used when installing these weights at their factory). The handle of the tool extends 1 inch beyond the midshaft, making the force required to apply to the end of this handle the same as that required to loosen the thread lock. Thus, this tool offers almost no mechanical advantages. This is aggravated by the fact that the tines on the working end of the tool are very short and it is difficult to apply even moderate force to the tool and to keep the tines in the weight holes tilted just far enough to clear the tines from the slots in the weight slip and there is a risk of scratching the racquet. I ended up having to soak the racquet head in boiling water for about 30-45 seconds to allow the heat to expand the racquet's metal and break the chemical bond of the threadlocker. After the break, I was able to use a tool to completely loosen and remove/swap the weights. It ends like a socket wrench so a 1/4" or 3/8" ratchet can be used to apply the leverage needed to loosen the weights.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • I don't really like this tool it's ok
