The buckle "detail " does not adjust the size of the waist

I wish I had read the reviews. I saw a 4 star review and went for it but was very disappointed that the buckle on the front does not adjust for size and is for looks only. The elastic waistband is nice, but we really wanted to be able to tighten it a bit if needed.
