I bought this device to extract data from an mSATA drive that was in a small fanless PC on a website I maintain. The PC was a location-based firewall (running pfSense) and died. I worked for about 15 years, so there are no complaints. The problem was that I had to get configuration information from him. This adapter enabled me to do just that. The only problem I had was not with the adapter itself, but with the SSD, more specifically with the file system on the SSD. pfSense is based on FreeBSD and uses the UFS file system. My Linux PC isn't working so I had to add UFS support to read the data. The adapter itself worked flawlessly - once I got the right file system support, the mSATA drive just showed up as another USB drive on my PC, allowing me to extract the data I needed. Keep in mind that this is just a PCB with connectors (and supporting chips and other components) on it. No business. This means you need to be more careful when using it. This is not the fault of the item itself and you can clearly see from the pictures in the listing that it does not have a case.
