I read the reviews for the PR-D4W and had no hesitation in ordering it to go with my Christmas gift cards. So far I've been impressed with its sensitivity on both AM and FM. On VHF it is as sensitive as any laptop I have including my Sangean ATS-909X which works great on VHF. FM's selectivity is great and it has the ability to change bandwidth to help detect weaker signals alongside stronger signals. The weather band works very well and easily accommodates multiple weather stations. It doesn't disappoint on AM either. I've compared it to several units in my radio fleet and it came out on top easily when I compared it to the 1994 GE Superradio III, 1999 CC Radio, Grundig G5, Sangean ATS-909X and Grundig YB400. These sets are anything but dubious, but on weak signals the PR-D4W had the clear advantage. The adjustable bandwidth even makes listening to AM music a pleasure. Of course, there are a few downsides too. I would like a lock button. A holdall and always-on display would have been nice, but at this price point it's hard to complain when you're getting so much performance for the money.
