Review on Protect Your RV With Solera V000163273 White Slide Topper Awning - 5'6"! by Butros Allen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The roller tube on long covers will bend in the middle allowing water to pool up and not drain.

I was excited to get this on my trailer and it is a nice addition. The install took some work but was not difficult, recommend two people for mounting the awning. If you are not comfortable/experienced with power tools watch the videos online and be sure you are comfortable or have it done professionally. Overall, the product is well made and works as described. Mine, as many others based on reviews, arrived with mild shipping damage in the form of scratched parts. The main issue I have with the product is that the roller tube flexes in the middle which allows the middle of the cover to sag and precipitation collects there instead of draining away. Mine is the 13' version. I thought maybe I had done something wrong on the installation so looked at several other around the campground and all of the long ones have the same middle flex on slide outs that extend 42 inches. In dry weather it's not a problem but in wet weather you can expect many gallons of water, snow, or ice to collect in the cover and will only drain away when you tip in the slide out. It's a good addition to the trailer but needs some re-engineering to prevent roller tube flex causing cover sag.
