Review on 🐠 Optimized Marina CUBUS Glass Betta Kit by Tina Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Be careful what you put in it.

I use this tank to grow aquarium grass and use it as a quarantine tank. THIS SHOULD NOT HOLD ADULT BETTA. We see cruelty in pet shops, where animals are kept in small cages with many of their own kind, and males in tiny cute cups, but that doesn't mean they're meant to live that way all their lives. They put them in little cups because they sell fast like takeout and most of the animals are babies or sell fast too. People have a misconception that this is the norm for these animals. Bettas, like many of their related breeds, live in shallow ponds and can breathe from the surface using their labyrinthine organ. Note that they prefer a wide, shallow (8-12 inch deep) tank and have been known to jump at least a few inches, so they should have a lid or a few extra inches of space between the top and the rim. A single Betta can live quite comfortably in a 5-10 gallon aquarium with a filter (not too much water agitation, maybe a sponge filter) and hiding places (think plants etc) but this tank is NOT a rooster aquarium. . If you want something to live in that tank for a long time I might suggest up to 5 shrimp or maybe some pom pom crabs, but not both. If you are heavily planted and able to create a new lid/screen over the current one. You can get away with a few tetras, but I hate to suggest this because the water needs are left behind after they've been wasted. Have more than a few plants and a few shrimp, NOT RECOMMENDED BEGINNER aquarium setup. Less doesn't mean easier. That being said, this aquarium is great for growing hairgrass, keeping shrimp (if you can find a small enough heater or can put it in a warm space), and quarantining new fish to make sure you don't introduce parasitic or finned tetras rotting into an existing population aquarium. It looks good and doesn't take up much space, for example in the guest bathroom or in the office. Note that a lot of water will be lost if you run the heater in this tank since it is open. I solved this problem by scraping the lid off the sour cream and placing it over the hole on top lol (it still has the string and oxygen exchange space in the back slot, wish it had another closed lid option or a hole lid) .
