Fast transfers, solid construction; Don't expect bus performance with a USB-A connection, runs hot

Pros: In a RAID 0 configuration (striping) I get faster transfers than single engine drives. The built in SD card slot is a nice touch. The drive is carefully packaged and comes with cables for multiple power and data connections. The device feels just as durable as the other drives in the LaCie Rugged line. Cons: I have yet to find a USB port that provides enough power to power the drive without the included power adapter, which has a shorter cord than I would like. The drive also heats up significantly more than the single-drive LaCie Rugged case. After a few hours of use, the metal case got hot. You'll definitely want to hold on to the orange bumper and let it cool before packing. So speed comes at the expense of convenience. However, it is much more portable than the LaCie 2Big or other RAID arrays that use 5.25" drives. ----------- UPDATE/FIX: The drive can only run on bus power when connected with Thunderbolt. 3 (iMac 5K, MacBook Pro 2017 and newer) and a Thunderbolt 3 capable USB-C cable. My conclusions above are based on initial use on a Windows PC with only USB 3 Type USB-A ports.

Cons
