It can be used. My daughter is 10 years old and she is learning how to hit softball fast. She's a beast at punches and throws, but her serve just keeps getting better. I am very disappointed in the design of this product. The frame snaps slightly out of square due to its poor design not locking together. The bungee placement instructions are so vague that I suspect many buyers will have trouble with them. The jumping net always seems to throw down. Therefore, it is a good exercise with the ground ball. I bought this as a beginner's instrument for my little daughter. I know she's going to need a major upgrade soon, but I've gotten some really bad reviews and I'd love to see her DESTROY this one. Luckily I'm very handy and can fix and improve most of the junk I work with. Pliers and tape make it easy to upgrade this product.
