I have bought and read two different books on fermentation and neither mentioned their existence! After playing around with my own clumsy solutions for storing sauerkraut and kimchi underwater, this is a blessing! The listed weight didn't sound like much, so I doubted they would be heavy enough; Previously, these weights tended to hold things in place, but I still had to push them down every now and then. I suggest making them a little larger in diameter to cover a little more area and be a little heavier. Their overall diameter can easily be 1/8 inch or 3mm larger and still fit easily in the opening of the jar. That's why I'm deducting two stars in the "Ease of use" section of the rating. However, I'm very glad I found her. The glass is of very good quality, clean and smooth and the overall design is perfect. The number of weights in the set was just right; When I'm not using them I can put them all in an empty mason jar and then cover them with water and some bleach to keep them sanitized!
