I bought this item to use with sauerkraut. I've had issues with "floaters" sometimes interrupting fermentation and ruining the product. So go ahead with those weights and minimal floats/successful sauerkraut! If there were any changes that could be made, it would be to structure the grip in some way or make it a little higher. I make my cabbage in half gallon mason jars and after that removing the weights was a bit sketchy. Great product, worked as hoped and would buy again if needed.

Making sauerkraut at home just got a whole lot easier with these weights. I have several 64 ounce jars and the jar weights fit perfectly. I chop up a cabbage, a carrot or two with some spices and then put a round cabbage leaf on top of everything as a floating trap with a glass weight. Unlike most other jar weights I've been able to find here, they have flared handles. It's just a small flash, but it's enough for me to easily pull a weight covered in water and yeast out of the jar with my bare hands.
