Review on 🔒 5-Pack - Easy to Hold - Effortlessly Pick with Tongs - Glass Fermentation Weights with Handles for Wide Mouth Mason Jars by Veronica Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best jar weight I've found from Revain

Unlike most other jar weights I've been able to find here, they have flared handles. It's just a small flash, but it's enough for me to easily pull a weight covered in water and yeast out of the jar with my bare hands. I haven't tried grabbing it with pliers as it seems pointless and just asking for a bad time. Heavy enough to hold batches of peppers, sliced radish, or radish seed pods in water. The weight is the perfect width for all 1 pint wide mouth jars I've tried. Unfortunately they are too narrow to be used alone in 1 liter wide mouth jars as they widen under the neck but that's how it is - I don't think you can make a whole ferment that is narrow enough at the same time to to fit in a wide mouth opening and wide enough to fit in a quart sized glass. However, there's an easy workaround if you're using a quart jar: only ferment larger items, or (as is often suggested) stuff a large cabbage leaf onto what you're fermenting and then place a weight on top of it. If you're like me and you're worried about finding the right can weight, or you've spent too much time looking through every jar weight offered on Amazon, just go for this one. 4 stars for "easy to remove" just because I don't think it's a good idea to lift these (or any) glass weights with tongs.

  • Many fit
Cons
