Complete garbage on computer and accessories

Looks really cheap. Used once after purchase. Used it for the second time today after sitting in the closet for months and the light comes on but it doesn't deliver drives or really work. Testing on a Linux workstation also fails. Events in the dmesg. (For the non-techies, even devices that don't register properly usually show some sort of identification there). In other words, this device worked once and that's it, but it wasn't marked as single use?
