Saves --- or uses --- water during a long Southern California drought. We first bought a liter bucket but found we needed a larger bucket (it's a 5 liter bucket) to put in the kitchen sink to collect water that would otherwise be wasted - washing hands, Peeling vegetables, washing dishes before we put them in the dishwasher. etc. It fits perfectly. We put a silicone mesh mat on top so we filter out solids like vegetable peelings etc. We usually fill them once a day unless I'm washing and rinsing the rice (requires too much water) and then we drop it on our roses, apple trees and other plants, we're only allowed to water occasionally. I can't imagine being without it now.
