Best Homemade Scanner I've Ever Seen

I've tried and researched MANY scanning tools over the years (20 years at least). Those in the do-it-yourself price range (under $150 in my opinion) tend to have MANY limitations that make them less than ideal for diagnosing non-trivial problems with your car. As an electrical engineer with a vast knowledge of modern engine management (and with a son who works as an engine calibration engineer at GM and can also give me advice when I'm out of my element), I've always wanted a full-featured bi-directional scan tool that can but never justify the $400-$5000 price tag (and they may also be outdated and in need of upgrades as they are intended for professional technicians who use them daily and could justify the cost). However, I've come very close to spending $450-$1050 on a few occasions just to have it on hand when I need it to diagnose one of my vehicles (which are getting older and likely to have more problems). ). I'm so glad I resisted the temptation and waited. Then I came across this device. While it can't do everything that a $5,000 professional scanner can do (like flash buttons or flash the ECM), it has all the features I need to diagnose problems I'm likely to run into in my vehicles. And the current price ($119 after a $10 coupon) with free two-day shipping is phenomenal for this feature set. And surprisingly, there are no additional costs to use the features and you get 3 years of free software updates. Also, surprisingly, you get full access to a large number of manufacturer-specific modules that allow you to see all data streams and manufacturer drives (all without additional fees) - WOW! And it gives you access to all of your vehicle's systems - engine management, transmission, TPMS, ABS, all body modules, etc. - on new vehicles with enhanced features you'll see even more - some vehicles have over 50 separate systems. check. This is truly an amazing level of functionality for the price. WHAT I LIKE: * Great value for the DIY enthusiast (currently under $120 with coupon and free shipping with Prime) * I/M ready so you can tell if it's had a full drive cycle. since codes were last reset * Scans ALL SYSTEMS (not just plain OBD2, not just ECM) * Live data from all systems * Access full manufacturer data PIDs for all systems - an incredible amount of data streams * Freeze frame data from the moment the error occurs , so you can analyze the state of the system during a malfunction* Bi-directional triggering of many systems - so you can turn on things like fuel pump, fans, lights, windows, mirrors, dash gauges, air conditioning controls, heater controls, head-up display glass, etc. – it goes on and on.* Ability to read all diagnostic trouble codes on all systems* Ability to clear all diagnostic trouble codes on all systems* Quickly read codes and live data* Quickly clear codes* View data in tabular form or as Timeline* Ability to create reports in PDF format* Nic Easy to use application that does what it t unneeded, without unnecessary clutter* Flashlight on the end of the device so you can see the OBD2 connector* Multiple user functions like SAS reset, service reset, etc. WHAT I DON'T WANT:* It took a long time to do this way to find this awesome scanner. Please note that there is not much documentation and manuals about it. It's up to you to figure out what data to look at and what it means (you know how to use the internet, right?). This is one of the differences from professional tools that have a lot of instructions and help in the app. It only gives you raw access to trouble codes, data streams and drive tests, but it's up to you to know or figure out how to use it all. and have always wanted a bi-directional scanner with access to full manufacturer's PID data, THIS IS THE ONE! I recommend you buy it asap before the price increases or restrictions are added. This device is currently the only one on the market.
