Smooth Knife - Power and Hand Tools

I have four boys. They all like to set up camps and they all do reconnaissance. So suffice to say I've bought half a dozen of these spring-loaded knives, and I know that at least one of my boys bought one of these knives from a Boy Scout camp store a few years ago. I confess that the most expensive knife I'm referring to above costs about $20. Most of them cost around $10. This one is head and shoulders above any other we have. Workmanship, fit and finish are very comfortable. The handle material is light but obviously very strong. In operation, the knife adjusts to its position and fit, and the surfaces of the spring assist mechanism, locking mechanism, and hinge of the knife itself are assembled to very tight tolerances. This means it runs smoothly and consistently with no play in any of those moving parts when they are locked. It might be a small thing to say, but I really appreciate how straight and clean the knife sits when locked. It seems to me that many knives go about 1/64 inch from not closing properly without scratching one side of the holder. Having not had enough opportunity to use this knife in the field (I'll be summer), I can't comment on how well it holds an edge. In fact, in terms of the quality of the overall experience, I'm sure it will hold up well. My only complaint isn't just about this brand or packaging, but it annoys me when manufacturers put stickers directly on their products and expect we can get them clean. My photos show the remnants of the sticker on the clip of this knife. That's what's left of a sticker that essentially warns me that the knife is sharp. Truth? A quick note though as I was able to clean it up with some degreaser and my fingers. Highly recommended.
