"Metal Tip " in the most pointless way. Waste of money

I received this ruler with a metal tip and expected it to have a metal edge on one side to make it easier to draw a line on that side. Every other metal-tipped ruler I've seen has this feature. That's the whole purpose of the metal ruler. To give you a nice beveled edge to draw a line on. Not this one. no The metal is bent at each end. Why? I can't imagine. This adds nothing to the integrity or structure of the criterion. It doesn't add any functionality. It doesn't even get to the end. Where I want to draw a line is the width of a folding rule for some unknown reason, even that won't be smooth because there's a protrusion where the metal tip falls. So really, as far as I can tell, "metal tip" is less convenient in this case. It is made of very light wood. I'm used to the criterium with a little more weight, but for a little lighter it could be better. Mine isn't kinked like someone else has complained. At least as far as I can tell. I haven't tested the accuracy on another gauge, but it looks correct. One side has inches on one edge and centimeters on the other. On the other side, inches are marked on one edge and eighths of yards on the other edge, which might come in handy. In fact, I'd be happy if this thing had a real metal tip on the rim. I expected more from a well-known company like Dritz. If anyone knows of a reason why metal tips over the ends in a way that makes it more useful for a task, please comment and let me know. If I were to order a product that was intended for a different purpose, it would at least make sense to me. I can't think of a single scenario where this product makes any sense at all.

Pros
  • A 5/8 x 36 inch flexible marker
Cons
  • So far so good
