Agree with everyone who says the mechanics are broken! I needed an accessible lock so one person couldn't just take our bike to the beach. We rode about 2 miles to the beach and hanging out and then we drove home and the lock didn't work, the bikes are locked on the bike rack and not gone (i think it works for basic security) so what do we do, drive back home and just cut the lock with wire cutters (with pincers)... but unless you have a car big enough to fit the bikes, you still have a problem, a bike in the trunk and I rode my bike home free exercise hurts never and mastered a lesson. When you get this lock, I recommend checking it every time before you put it on, especially when you are away from home or r only use it at home for very basic security .Otherwise spend a few bucks more.
