I have tried many cordless phones over the last 25 years but absolutely none compare to the Philips DECT 6.0 range of cordless phones. First off, the line clarity is second to none, which has always been my main gripe with other cordless phones. The ergonomic design of the phone is also a big plus. It's easy to hold. Both the handsets and the answering machine base unit are works of art to me. If desired, the tube can be placed vertically on any flat surface. The keyboard is easy to use and the menu options are varied. To check the range, I went outside at least 100 feet from the house and went behind a detached garage. To my amazement, the device worked just as if I were standing directly on the base unit. The battery life is excellent. The autoresponder is amazingly easy to use, yet very effective. Aside from the ease of use and compact design, what immediately struck me was that I didn't have to listen to outgoing messages before hearing incoming messages. Also, the default reply voice is different from anything I've heard before. Obviously not mechanical. I was very happy with it, I think the accent is British. I bought several additional phones.
