I bought these screws to fix the letters on a sign that will be placed outside the building. When I received it the packaging was a sealed plastic bag which is quite acceptable for a product. When I began installing the letters, I used an impact wrench to drive the screws into the pre-drilled countersunk holes. The material used was Extira, an outdoor MDF, and I didn't want the screws to split the material. The pre-drilled hole size was 1/8 inch. Since I broke them in, I probably had 10 to 12 screws from a Phillips head. After the first one or two I figured the screwdriver was probably worn out and replaced it with a new one. That wasn't the problem as I was still having issues. I'm just assuming stainless steel screws should be harder than these. The stripping of the drive seat must not be made of stainless steel.
