Review on Monoprice Blackbird 4K 4x1 HDMI Switch with Audio Extractor - Black, HDR, 18Gbps Refresh Rates, YUV 4:4:4 by Todd Mohr

I bought this product to use the headphones in a cable box/DVD/TV where the TV has no audio output other than digital (which requires switching the TV from the speakers TV to digital audio). I wanted to be able to use my headphones to crank up the volume while my wife listened at her preferred volume through the regular TV speakers. The idea was to use the audio out jack on this product to hear whatever device was selected for display on the TV. Apparently this device isn't designed to work with a cable box (xFinity) as an input - I've seen a variety of issues from the inability to switch from one device to another, to devices not switching at all, to the encrypted video output to a TV, to the inability to control a TV using your own menu/remote control. I thought this product would easily solve my problem, but instead it created a whole new set of problems. Unfortunately, I threw away the box, so I guess I can't return it. Another device that will forever sit unused on my shelf.
