My Dyson V8 started coughing and whistling regularly. Usually installing a clean pre-filter fixed the situation, but after a year of regular use I realized it was time to buy a new HEPA post-filter. Bought this brand based on positive reviews. It was half the price of the original OEM version and will hopefully last as long. When I first vacuumed with a new filter, I noticed a dramatic improvement in the suction power and overall performance of my Dyson. Because the pre-filters are washable, I always start fresh, so I think the post-filter needs to be changed even more often. Dyson recommends changing the post filter once a year but I can do it every 6 months after seeing how much better it cleans with a new one. I would highly recommend this particular brand of Dyson mail and pre filters. The quality and performance appear to be as good as the original Dyson filters.
