Review on Boraam Augusta Counter Height Swivel Stool 24-Inch Cappuccino - Elegant & Functional Bar Seating by Gillian Ahn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cautiously optimistic, but VERY SATISFIED with the finished product!

I ordered these stools after looking for a reasonably priced bar stool that looked good aesthetically and was also of reasonable quality for the price. I made the decision to purchase six of these chairs but was cautiously optimistic after reading reviews of damaged chairs, color mismatch, lack of matching hardware, etc. So upon receipt and during assembly I took several steps to ensure everything was in order. my expectations. First, each box has a manufacturing date. Although I received three separate batches, each was produced in December 2014. Then I carefully unpacked and checked the color match. I then carefully inspected each part for damage, looking for cracks or chips. Do this without destroying the packaging just in case it needs to be put back in the box. I'm happy to report that no parts were damaged and that the appropriate hardware was included. After unpacking, I prepared an area for two stools at the same time. I then took each bolt and placed the lock nut and washer as instructed in the instructions (which were clear enough to understand). Do this in advance so you don't have to rush around looking for the right bolt, nut, and washer. Since some people have complained about screws loosening over time, I decided to buy a few tubes of LOCK-TIGHT and add a small amount to each screw before use. When assembling the legs with the leg ring and seat base, I strongly recommend NOT TIGHTENING! Leave them slightly less than finger tight until all 16 screws are in place. At this point, the stool should be very liquid. This helps solve the alignment issues many of you may have had with screws stuck in holes. Next, place the base on a smooth, flat surface and tighten. This is very important because if you tighten on a carpet or uneven surface, it will tighten in an uneven position and the chair will wobble. You must be sure to move quickly during this step as LOCK Tight will start to harden quickly so you should aim to complete this in 15-20 minutes and don't stop until you have completed this step. Another reason why all bolts must be ready for action. Once that is done, reattach the stool to the seat following the instructions above. Use Lock-Tight on each screw and do not tighten until each screw is in place and of course DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! Once this is complete, attach the base to the seat with the four screws provided. Again, use LockTight on each screw. This is the only tricky part of the build. The four screw holes only align in one direction, so make sure the stool is positioned so that each screw hole aligns before you start screwing in. Also, you need to rotate the chair so you can screw the screw in easily. This means you have to rotate the stool as there seems to be only one position where you can easily access the screw adjustment and tightening options. I have to admit it was a bit frustrating but not impossible and not that difficult. I just had to find out for myself so hopefully this helps the rest of you. Overall I am very happy with the stools. I gave them FIVE STARS for their value for money and the simple fact that I didn't have a single problem. They look fantastic and feel very strong/sturdy with no major wobbles etc. You can't beat the price of $80 for each stool (if you order two packs). If you want a real $500 stool, it probably won't live up to your expectations, but for the price, you can't beat it! I hope this was helpful and I will update once they wear off a bit in a few months. . Much luck!
