Review on πŸ” SuplutuX Stud Finder Wall Scanner: Reliable 3/4-Inch Depth Edge Stud Sensor with Battery by Dean Gomatham

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I can't complain about the performance of this bolt finder.

The only reason this stud finder got 4 stars and not 5 is because of the battery holder/block clip. Operating this device is fairly simple, and it does exactly what it advertises well, finding spots for spikes. It's not a top-notch finder, but it finds most studs very well, as long as the wall paneling isn't too thick or has a metallic finish (like some insulation materials). However, the battery mount is borrowed almost directly from the design of some zircon finders and is very difficult to remove without flying through space when released. It could have been a simple hatch or sliding compartment cover, but they had to make it part of the belt clip and then make it hard to detach from the main body. All in all, this viewfinder is value for money and doesn't require frequent battery changes, so the battery mount is secondary. Four LEDs indicate when you're near a stud, and everything lights up on or near the edge. His "pipper" is easy to hear and also gives clues to the position of the hairpin. The soft felt strip on the back allows it to sit and slide against the wall without scratching. The finder is powered by a 9V battery and comes in a box with instructions - handy size and ergonomics.
