Review on SHIMANO T4000 Front V-Brake - Enhanced with Sleek Black Finish by Enes Patiag

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fits my bike but instructions were very limited

I bought these to repair an old bike that needed new cables and brake pads. For the price I switched to all of these sets. Cables are not included, neither are levers. I read reviews that someone used them on the same model of my bike, an older Trek 7200 hybrid, so I figured they would work. I also read that there is no real difference between the front and rear kits and since the rear kit was on standby I ordered 2 front kits. They work, at least well enough. The spring isn't as strong as on my previous set so I had to play around with them and test different rear placements. They have a lot of resistance in the top hole of the rear bindings but not in the middle so I used the top one. The front brackets only have one hole, which barely offers enough resistance to work. Installation took a while, mostly trying to align and flex the pads. Thank goodness there are Park Tools instructional videos on YouTube. They have detailed instruction videos for installing all types of caliper brakes including V-brakes. While I recommend this item, it would be nice if the seller listed the differences between the front and rear sets on their Revain sales page.
