Review on Mann-Filter HU 719/8 X Oil Filter - Metal-Free Variant by Michael Adams

MADE IN MEXICO! on oil filters and accessories

Seems like MANN is following the path of other filters. One is made in Germany, the other in Mexico. Both should be ONE FILTER. The Mexican is about 2 mm shorter and has fewer wrinkles. Even the stitching at the junction of the pleats is different. I've used several corporate filters over the past fifty years, but many have stopped using corporate filters because they didn't work. All defective filters were manufactured in Asia or South America. As someone who loves to put 500,000 miles in their cars, mostly Chevy and Volvo, I haven't seen an engine fail for any reason, so I'll keep an eye out for when the filters are removed. All my abandoned cars are rotten and beyond repair. If I find a faulty filter, that company will be put on my "Do Not Buy" list. Very soon this can be reduced to a filter company. Maybe I need to start making my own.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • So-so
