Although the description says it is 401 stainless steel, this item does not exist. It could be 301 but I'm guessing it's actually 410 stainless steel because 1) it's magnetic and 2) other similar products have 410 fps. By design, they are as effective as steel wool but lack the abrasiveness. They are comfortable to hold and gentle enough to be used on a porcelain sink. Don't use them on Teflon or similar coated pans and you won't want to use them on hardened iron pans, they work best for cleaning steel or aluminum. They are durable and can easily be used for weeks.
