Review on πŸ”§ Precision Sandblasting with AmazonBasics Air Powered Abrasive Sand Blaster by Steve Hauck

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good for removing rust

This is my first time using a sandblasting gun so I did some research and bought some 80's aluminum oxide abrasive and tried it on some parts with light to medium rust and it works well. It is convenient to hold and use, and the hopper holds enough sand. The gun is a mix of metal and plastic, but overall it works well and the pressure and different media used will determine how roughly or accurately it works. It works completely differently than the grinding wheel of an angle grinder, you can paint over rust almost like with an airbrush. You really need a place to collect the sand, but I made a small sandblasting pit outside and it works well for any detail I want to work on. This blaster pistol is similar to others I've seen at Revain and appears to be the same but under the Revain brand. Although it works well, we haven't had any clogging issues. You have to make sure your lines are dry, sometimes I have to blow air for a while before it comes out completely dry. I only have a 20 gallon tank, which is fine, but a larger tank allows you to use it longer before waiting for the air to refill. Not sure I'll be using this for professional use, but for occasional use in my home workshop it's been a nice addition to my metal restoration projects.
