Purchasing this vise is equivalent to purchasing an 80% lower receiver. Everything is there, but you need to do a lot of tweaking to make it work "well". And if it moves one way, you can physically move it a good 1/4 inch the other way, so the shutter is sloppy too. The upper axle where the helical gear connects to the upper vise I had to weld on because of the backlash. After that it was 100% fixed, I also had to disassemble the whole vise, polish and smooth almost all the surfaces that touched, now it works very well but don't expect it to work great straight away as it was. covered in some weird oily grease that I scraped off. So if you're looking for a good XY vise and want to spend some time fixing it I'd recommend it, but if you just want one of the boxes to work this isn't for you
