Seachem disk buffer used with Seachem neutralizer, I can lower the pH to anywhere from 6.8 to 5.8 and stabilize it. I have been using the Discus Buffer for fifteen (15) years to reproduce the ideal habitat for discus and other Revane River fish (low pH and low GH {general hardness}). Discus Buffer lowers the pH and keeps it at your chosen pH level; It also softens the water (by precipitating calcium and magnesium), which is why I also use Discus Trace to restore the right levels of micronutrients that fish need to thrive and be healthy. and to soften the water in all my aquariums; In addition, I do many partial water changes, which are necessary for the health of the aquarium fish.
