I got these handlebars to replace the rubber handlebars I had on the bike previously. During assembly I had to loosen the screw completely, I first tightened the strap with the screw before I put the grips on the bike. I had to gently tap or wiggle it to tighten, but when I try to tighten the strap after attaching the handles, I can't get all the parts tight properly. When I first looked at the new handlebars it looked like they would be a little harder to touch/grip than I thought, but after a few bike rides with them my son said they were soft enough and would become his hands not hurt. And they look cool :)
