I am an adult with an interest in astronomy but have never used a telescope. Before that I only used Cometron binoculars for stargazing. It was definitely a step forward in terms of zoom and allowed me to look at things from a greater distance, including better detail on the moon and its craters, as well as Jupiter and its moons. It will not provide high-resolution images of the planets such as B. Distinguishing different shades of Jupiter. Larger Barlow lenses offer more magnification but are very difficult to focus. It will take time and patience to get used to moving the telescope at these magnifications. At minimum magnification, the focus is very clear. I also used a solar filter (sold separately) to get a closer look at the sun, which allowed me to appreciate solar flares. All in all, this is a great telescope for a beginner to learn how to find planets, use the finder scope and get used to it. It's worth the money for beginners (both adults and kids I think). Super easy and intuitive assembly without unnecessary parts. It is great that a tripod is included, which is not always included with telescopes. I highly recommend this for beginners before considering a more expensive telescope for quality images. As long as you adjust your expectations of this telescope so that you don't expect NASA-like clarity, you'll get plenty out of it. I am very happy with the purchase and look forward to continuing to use it.
