Review on Mediabridge 14AWG 2-Conductor Speaker Wire (100 ft, White) - 99.9% Oxygen-Free Copper – ETL Listed & CL2 Rated for In-Wall Installation (Part# SW-14X2-100-WH) by Mike Larkin

Flexible, high quality cable but 1% shorter than advertised

After reading some negative reviews I decided it was best to test this cable before proceeding with the complex installation process. Any item made in China today has a 1 in 1,000 chance that you will receive a counterfeit. Length: There were complaints that the length wasn't as advertised (e.g. 80ft instead of 100ft) so I unwound the spool and measured my "100ft" spool and it was 98ft 9in , so not that bad. The jacket is marked with CLS. rating etc. but I found it also says 99 feet of wire. So Mediabridge misrepresents and they know it, but not that bad, as the one star reviewers claimed. invisible. Flexibility: I found that, for 16 gauge wire that flexibility was at least good. I didn't expect the performance here to be as good as 100% silicone insulation, so I'm very pleased. Continuity: There has been some comment on the intermittent sound attributed to the cable. I did a wobble test by spiraling the wire every foot or so to find a continuous connection. Copper Quality: Some complaints were related to tarnished copper. I didn't find a single spot where I cut or stripped the wire, and the solderability was consistent with oxygen-free copper wire. I measured the resistance using the 4 point Kelvin method and found, that the resistance from a 2 amp source was 3.83 mΩ/ft, exceeding the AWG 16 solid wire specification of 4.016 mΩ/ft. I am very happy with my purchase. I don't expect performance here to be as good as 100% silicone insulation, so I'm very satisfied.
