Do not buy this waffle maker! When the latch was opened, steam escaped and almost burned my hand. When I finally opened this waffle maker, the waffle was stuck to the top rack. I lightly oiled both stitches so I was wondering why they got stuck. The top grate then almost tipped backwards due to the weight of the stuck waffle I believe. The lights are located at the top rear of the device. You have to be ahead. When the appliance has heated up to the desired level and the cooking time has elapsed, an audible signal should be heard. I bought this waffle maker because it's small and fits perfectly on my kitchen countertop. But it's not weighted enough on the bottom grille to avoid tipping over backwards. Makes decent waffles. I liked the moat that keeps the device clean. The price was good.
