This product works great. I have 3 cats and they all use the door now. I practiced letting them walk through the door before installing them and then helping them in and out the first day. None of my cats were startled by the loud slamming of the door. I installed a cat door in a boarded up basement window. This was the most convenient for me because I didn't have to bump into a door or wall. A door is a great thing because we no longer have to try to chase cats in at night before going to bed and cats are really happy to come and go as they please. The only problem is that one of our cats is now using the door to bring us presents home. He brought home both live and dead mice. We're hoping to teach him not to, if he keeps this up we might have to remove his collar so he can't use the door.
