Review on πŸ’ͺ 16-Core, 32-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X by Jayshawn Cuatlayol

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Amazing number of cores and threads - for my applications Meh

For reasons nobody cares, I now use two home PCs - one with an i9-9900KS and one with this Ryzen chip. Other specs of my systems are almost identical (DDR4-3600 RAM, RTX2080Ti video, AORUS MASTER motherboards (Z390 and X570), 2TB SSD (PCIe-4 for Ryzen), AIO cooler (H150i on Ryzen and H115i with push-pull fans. Intel) In common benchmarks (Blender, Cinebench etc.) this knocks the i9-9900KS out of the water. Unfortunately, unlike almost all YouTube reviewers, I do not edit or edit any videos. I'm working with big data to set up a single-threaded engineering simulation. Even with my high-end mobile devices and coolers, and with the PBO turned on, the Ryzen CPU clocks up to 4.2 GHz. My i9-9900KS runs stable at 5GHz. Despite AMD's improvements in IPC and a better SSD, this frequency is almost exactly the same during my run - Ryzen takes 19% longer than Intel. However, this is an amazing processor if you can use the cores.
