I originally bought this cage to pair with the two story Kaytee Habitat we own. It's too small to have a white dwarf in it all the time. I had to put my cupcake bitch in this cage when she had a brood of babies (remove wheel) and after a week I found she was going crazy climbing the bars trying to chew her way out. Putting the wheel back in the cage helped, but she still wasn't happy. With the addition of more tubes and shelters, she seems much happier. So if you want to use it as a permanent home for your dwarf hamster, you will most likely need to add some accessories to keep the hamster from going haywire. This is a great cage to have on hand whenever you have a "colony" of hamsters and need to separate a rogue hamster that is attacking others.
