So far I like this stand a lot. It is clearly very strong and durable. The actual installation is pretty easy once you have everything assembled as the instructions suggest when you receive the item. Don't beat a dead horse, and instructions ("instructions") are hilarious and essentially useless. Like paying a college student $50 to translate and/or write them would kill them. Also, the photos are not detailed enough to answer some important assembly questions. The packaging is pretty ridiculous and one of the hardware bags was ripped open causing the screws and washers to fall off when I started to peel the bubble wrap off everything. I was wondering if I received a return or at least a previously opened one. In addition, the supplied reflector was broken. I didn't bother to glue it back on as my existing reflector fits the mount. I think most people would just return the item because of this. The first assembly turned out to be quite difficult as none of the parts had even numbers. I assumed some items were redundant, which only applies to locknuts and washers. The hex bolts didn't make much sense in the crowd and I had to mix and match a bit to figure out what length to use for everything. There were 8 screws that were too long to need anywhere, so I used them to attach the base of the rack to the posts. Screws protruding below/in this area should not be a problem. I recommend you just buy a new set of hex bolts, which are slightly shorter overall than the ones included in the kit. I could eventually do it and change them all. After getting everything to the level the instructions suggest, the rest of the installation was pretty easy. The only question is on which side the two main support arms are mounted. They have a rail for attaching an extra center support and are not symmetrical. Choosing the right side seems to make all the difference. I don't think either option is really good since that extra hand doesn't line up properly no matter which side the main hand is on. Depending on how far back and how high you place the main compartment, this extra lever may not sit properly when tightened. I chose not to install it at all as I don't think it's really necessary. I would definitely install it if you're looking to load 100 pounds of gear into a rack. I expect him to be carrying a maximum of 20 pounds of gear. It is now installed and used on the Cannondale Treadwell 2.
