Two months with these lifters on my 13 year old Taurus and everything works great. Note: Both trunk hinges have rubber plugs that must be removed to facilitate installation of these luggage racks. (These stops act like a cushion when the trunk lid reaches its fully open position and in my case they were painted the same color as the car). Once the racks are installed, simply slide the stops back in and you're done. If the stoppers are not removed, the posts appear to need to be compressed about 1/4 inch, but they SHOULD NOT be manually compressed.
