Review on John Boos Chop N Slice Maple Cutting Kitchen & Dining by Gina Williams

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's a great board until it breaks

I've had this board for 4 years now and have thoroughly cleaned and waxed/oiled it. It's well done. This is by far my favorite cutting board. I only use it for veggies; I don't use it for cutting meat or other "wet" applications. And after 4 years it starts to crack on both sides, which many people complain about. At this rate I think I can use it for about a year before it ends up in the fire pit. It's a little disappointing because the Farberware board I actually use for meat is 20 years old and still works with no cracks or tears. I'll have to think long and hard about buying another one like this - I might order another one that's one-piece (as opposed to glued boards) if they offer it. I really liked this board but for the price I expected it to be more durable. Still, I'm giving it 3 stars (instead of 1) because it's held up well over the years and still has life in it. For those who buy it: Make sure you handle it very well (follow the instructions) and be aware that depending on the number of people who have reported a disconnection problem, it's likely to happen to you at some point as well. And despite all that, I could still buy one. We have to think about it.
