This is a titanium French Press (TiFP) designed for camping or traveling. Packed in a beautiful box and wrapped in a cloth pouch. There are no instructions. I like it a lot but it doesn't do FP's job. It's well built and looks good, but there are 2 major design flaws that cause it to fail. I tested it in real mountaineering conditions. Okay, maybe just mentally. Judging by the photos, my kitchen was a testing ground and this is probably the best place to use it. Please look at the photos. As you can see, compared to the copper color of the Bodum FP, the TiFP lid doesn't slide down for some reason. I used 627 different FPs (a slight exaggeration for the effect) and they all slide the lid down. Why is it important? We all agree that a cup of coffee/a cup of coffee/coffee should be hot. After all, this is not an iced coffee maker! But if the lid stays on during brewing, the heat escapes. Now, in the wilderness of my air-conditioned kitchen, it doesn't matter. When you're really camping or traveling and it's fall or winter, you lose heat. This can result in terribly cold coffee. Nobody wants it. Wars have been fought over bad coffee. Even right in my own kitchen. What's more, have you ever sat perfectly still for the required 4 minutes (try 6-9 minutes for a deeper taste, but probably not with this device because your coffee will be lukewarm)? Certainly not, and while in spiritual nirvana I wish to commune with nature by chanting "kava," children, dogs, partners, friends, and spouses are always on the move. One touch and your TiFP drips and that liquid black gold you so desperately need are gone because the lid is locked in the up position and won't stop even the smallest splatter. 3 small holes so that when you release your treasure it will flow out. Why 3 holes? To keep the heat out? It's already happened. The photo shows leaks on the sides. Not critical, but another design flaw. I was going to use it for camping on a van but it would be too dangerous to leave the lid open especially when driving. There are other thermos-like devices (Espro?) that you can safely drive and brew with. Pros: The construction is excellent. The handles are the key. The materials are top notch - it really is titanium. Easy to clean - 1 drop of soap, hot water and dip 7 times. Purity! I really liked this concept. Cons: Design issues Lid is stuck against logic Not enough holes to pour So sad I'm returning this TiFP today. Again, this is an amazing concept with top-notch materials and construction, but someone (you know who you are!) at Navaris (the manufacturer) doesn't actually drink coffee, so they haven't tested and learned this simple but important part. design, but instead opted to ship a good piece of gear in an unusable condition. Please correct me, I will definitely do this again.
