It sits high on the back and zips up fairly securely so it doesn't bounce around and reminds you it's there. The straps are comfortable. The additional carry case is small but useful as an emergency spares kit. I have an inner tube, 2 CO2, an inflator, tire levers and an RX bar. The most important thing about this backpack is that the water is well insulated. I fill my bladder with ice, then fill up with water and do a 4 hour ride at 100F, and yet the water stays cool and comfortable for several hours of that ride. Very good quality, I recommend.
