Review on Tormek SVD 186 Gouge Jig Woodturning by Brian Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Unbelievable, now I think it was worth the money.

My grinder is an 8 inch Grizzly wet grinder that I bought for $129. It's great for sharpening and sharpening straight chisel blades, but also for turning, the notch is useless by default. You need a good template to first shape and then sharpen these curved knives. They spend almost as much on a jig as I do on my grinder was hard to swallow but I knew Tormek and loved what they did but didn't want to spend $400-600 on their wet grinders. Can a tool cost over $100? I'm embarrassed to say it because it sounds overkill) awesome. The contour was perfect, the blade was sharp and could be fully replicated. Again, I'm really impressed, although I had a lot of doubts. I recommend.

Pros
  • Can also be used for curved carving chisels, V-tools and luthier knives
Cons
  • So far so good
