Review on Enhance Your Cycling Experience with the Garmin Bicycle Mount Bracket by Sharon Griffin

An etrex solution that does not fit on a bike mount!

As many other users and buyers have pointed out, this product is NOT suitable for etrex HCX and other models. Those with an expansion card have a larger hole and do not fit the back of this product. Garmin doesn't describe this on their product or packaging, and none of the sellers I've seen indicate it. I actually bought 2 mounts and didn't want to pay the seller shipping costs so I improvised. I used a Dremmel and a small cylindrical diamond drill bit. I think any of the little cylindrical stone bits would work as well. I cut off some of the plastic that had to be removed to fit the cover over the larger part where the expansion board is. I used a utility knife to cut out a small spacer so it doesn't rip off other areas. It took trial and error, but everything is working fine now. I may have downgraded the water resistance a bit, but as others have pointed out, the rubber gasket that comes with the new backplate looks pathetic to begin with. I've also read that some mountain bike users have complained about the bolt holding the handlebar mount loose due to vibration. Looks like Garmin should have just put a locking nut on the back, but they didn't. I used a drop of Loctite to keep it in place. I tried to attach a short video showing what I mean. Sorry, the focus is not very good, the camera didn't want to focus on the small, very close Dremmelbohrer. I hope this helps some other buyers who are facing the same problem as me.
