Would like to compare the Brother ADS2000 scanner to the Fijitsu Scansnap ix500 scanner as I have both and have been using them for some time. The ADS2000 is cheaper but much worse for the following reasons: 1. Hardware: The ADS2000 is less sensitive to paper thickness and surface roughness. A stack of identical papers that go through the Scansnap with no problem but get stuck in the ADS2000.2. Hardware: ADS2000 cannot recognize paper formats like Scansnap ix500. You need to set the default paper size. You must use a slightly larger paper size or your scanned page will be cut off. Unlike Scansnap, it scans any paper at its true size.3. Hardware and Software: The ADS2000 spends more time processing scanned images and documents than scanning them. Once it's processed, there's nothing you can do. So the actual time you spend scanning is more than doubled. Scansnap produces processed documents instantly.4. Software: ADS2000 uses Paperport scanning software. He regularly eats processed documents. This means that after scanning, the paper port will stop processing, the file will not be saved on your computer and you will not be able to find the files anywhere. I have to scan again. It happens fairly regularly, which is frustrating. Very often you double, triple or quadruple your time to successfully scan a document. It has nothing to do with the computer or the storage capacity. This can also happen if you only scan one side. Bottom Line: To save about $100, you end up spending a lot more time.
