First, they don't have metal grommets. Not sure why other reviews are saying this, maybe they are getting them from a different source. The first day I put a red shoe in a cage. My dear AG hissed at her so I took it off and put it on the table next to the cage for her to stare at her suspiciously for a few days. Then I put it on the floor in the corner of the cage and she nudged it a few times. When she decided the shoes wouldn't kill her she attacked and oh my god she LOVES it! It took two days to completely demolish the shoe, leaving nothing but bits of rubber and red rags at the bottom of the cage. They're not made to last, but I didn't expect that. My bird can turn a $20 wooden toy into wood shavings in a few days. She doesn't play with any of the durable acrylic toys. So for $1.72 each (six packs), this is a real treasure. A minute ago I showed her a yellow shoe and she said OOOOOO! She happily destroys the sole while I watch. From now on, they will become a mandatory stock item. :-)
