I mounted this to a 3x4 zinc plated drawbar on an aluminum boat trailer with the help of a friend. We placed the loop about 35 inches from the hitch. Installation was tedious but not very difficult. After assembling it, I was a little dismayed at the game it has. The holes in the connector are larger than the included 5/8" screw and pivot pin. Also, there are small gaps where the two halves meet on each side, which makes the problem worse. With the end of the tongue closed, I can almost crack the end of the tongue Raise inches without moving the trailer. Of course, a 35" offset adds play, but it just seems like a lot. You can tighten the nut quite a bit and that makes things a bit easier, but it does make the hinge stiff and generates a torque on parts of the hinge where it shouldn't be nothing since it's a casting If the top and center of the hinge were made tight with no gaps I wouldn't mind turning it out but it isn't .Having read on the subject (very frequently) this seems normal, I've since tried fitting a 10.9 grade 10.9 bolt 140mm long x 16mm wide (0.6299 Z ol wide versus .6250" by 5/8" which helps some but still feels loose. I plan to leave the 16mm bolt in the pivot and pin it in place for short trips to the local lake, but if we go on a trip and take a boat I'll be using a second 16mm bolt and nut install (and recline) tighten both slightly, which feels much tighter and helps calm me down. Overall it does what it was bought for. My rig weighs about 3,000 pounds so I feel safe. But I believe this could have been made to much tighter tolerances and would have been an even better product.
